Well this old blog has suffered neglect the last year- well the last 5 years. Currently I'm postingthngs to instagram instead.....but I might go back and repost some of the drawings and things here.
MY dog and best friend Banjo finally died a month ago- at 14 and a half years. Banjo was the dog I based my drawings of Sunrise on (Sunrise in the Wolf Girl series)
Banjo is immortalised in all of the Sunrise drawings.
What's with all the Wolfgirl images- and the rough ones to come?
Well I worked on Wolfgirl for 4 and a half years- I did the covers and interior illustrations for books 3 to 11_ 9 all all up.- (Wolfgirl is written for the Anh Do banner).
Each book would have about 130 illustrations in it plus about 10 if there was a sealed section promoting another of the series under the banner.
Which is a lot of drawings- .
Which I've never really done any self promotion with- I realise this blog is obscure but it's a start......time to do a new webite after years of neglect.....had switched to posting stuff on facebook and instagram in the meantime.
The reason my blog posts dwindled over the last 5 years was- as I was working on Wolfgirl the number of illustrations per book was so many and the intensity of the deadlines meant I had no time for my own drawing really, and I couldn't show what I was doing until after it was published.
So news is that they are making a film and the series is being launched in the US.
For all of my contribution visually to the series- I am not involved in the movie and would get no royalties from its release in America.
For example any of the characters I've illustrated in the books except Gwen and the dogs were basically up to me to design- the description in the text was as much as I had to go on. I'm glad I was left alone to draw them how I imagined- same goes for vehicles/locations etc. Left to my own devices thankfully.
not so happy though to be discarded, and left out of important later developments like the film etc
- but then from what I have heard that would be the lot for any creatives working under that banner.
