Lying down on the job

Jaguar sleep from Lachlan Creagh on Vimeo.

Some of the sleep type anim and a die anim.
Die anim is a bit 'Meh"- a bit lame.
cats actually thrash around a lot when they're being killed....I dunno- I don't want to relish it dying.
Oh well put it in and get it working then iterate.
Couple of clunks- worst is when he's lying down looking at us then goes to lie flat...blasted 3dsmax biped.

That and the tail a just before he gets up get an anticipation 'added' by the curves in biped so that the head clunks and the tail goes through the floor before the anim starts...
lovely  :/
There's also a bit where he needs to pause longer before lying down again.
Bit of a laundry list of fixes....

Anyway the lie down and get up aren't too bad.

Jaguar Attack

Jaguar Attack from Lachlan Creagh on Vimeo.

Render out of Max to see how it was going, -dodgy camera move to keep it in frame .

By the usual suspects- animation by me.

Last one-Geez  looks like its being magically dragged back instead of moving back under its own steam- its hard making the animals plausibly return to a 'start pose' or 'base pose'......
Prob have to fix that...

A better Mousetrap...or Alien Invader

I like this one

The alien is like a little baby cuttlefish operating the bodysuit. Doesn't have visible mouth per se but displays thoughts on its head.

Disc on his head forms a cap to the body tube . Head can spin 360- body omnidirectional.

Dark alien with glowy eyes,- further on the "compress to bullet/projectile/blast proof shell"  idea

Eatin'

Jaguar eat from Lachlan Creagh on Vimeo.

Usual night render to see how it looks.
A bit of eating animation for Jaguar.
The 'get up from sitting' anim at the start - the front feet are too fast and precious looking...sigh
Otherwise the anim occasional works...
I mean you can tell when it works because you get engaged/hypnotised watching it- and then the bits where the motion is kinda mechanical snaps you out...
So there still a few mechanical sections it seems...
.but still, not unusable, just not polished

Kitty Sittin Pritty

Jaguar sitting from Lachlan Creagh on Vimeo.

Dear Void

Overnight render to see how it was looking so far...had about 300f to go but i stopped it.
Thoughts...
yawn needs more yawn in the latter bit (goes into it fine-goes out too quick+plus could use the tongue)
Couple of small head clunks in and out of base pose...
otherwise-...getting there.
Tail intersecting ground a little at the base...hmmm
Left paw a little precious/quick  as it  moves...
Hadn't done much to spine/hips  when it sits as weight shifts etc....
but would people playing the game care?

*Dear Void- added frames to the yawn- looks much better- will re render and repost
......so the world can rest easy

*Dear dear void- hadn't one the rerender but had done rivetting anim like lying down sleeping, floating,  and now onto attacks
But will do it now am back from supanova

Swim for it

Jaguar swimming from Lachlan Creagh on Vimeo.

Start of render out of max to check...
(hence start of cycles is different to latter more finished cycles because I generally leave a copy of where I was at on a cycle earlier in time and work on the next one along )
Back legs look a little clunky...hmm...might need slower chambering and faster kickstroke- opposite to whats there?

Usual dragon stuff

Ornithopters

So-I  finally read Dune.

Some ornithopter doodles as a result

Idle Jaguar

Jaguar Idle from Lachlan Creagh on Vimeo.

Overnight render of some idle animation for the Jaguar-
snaps  a bit at the end with the head-easy to fix.
I'll do a few with the feet moving to mix it up but the trouble with moving the feet is you end up having to take everything back to the start pose which is hard to make look natural/not forced
'Breathing ' is a bit slow- but I wanted it big enough to see but not so fast as to be distracting-
also I'm faking it with the spine rotation-don't have a chest bone to scale or whatever for the breathing.
Model by Rob, anim by me.
