Bit of wierdness

the drawings are odd too....
Well the lat 4 weeks has been mainly doing Eco anims,
and studying Toon Boom, a
nd starting to look again at Unity (to help with the Eco work but also as an ouput for the animation I might do) .....
Also looking at the output from ToonBoom to Unity...
Its a shame it can't just create something that the Unity camera can see and can be messed with in Unity- like a Fbx or something....
I think MOHO says it outputs an FBX to Unity...
does make you wonder whether you might just make a '3d' 2d character in Max or Maya after all
Also need to look at Unitys 2d anim offerings...
I guess Toon Booms use of shearing and non uniform scale probably means you'd need some special mesh renderer or something still.....because it looks like unity doesn't like that sort of thing  ...
well most 3d programs it used to be if you wanted non uniform scale on a hierarchy it might be trouble....

Wolf-a walk-( its a bit stalky)

(I'm going to redo this so its a bit more easy going as a general walk )

Fox

Fox Liedown and Getup from Lachlan Creagh on Vimeo.

That ECO fox- gettin down and gettin back up again
A few pauses in the render where I'd 'buffered' copied keys of and end pose etc....just a straight render of the Max scene.
Only a 'breathe' and 1 longish variation of idle yet for this and some other animals...
3 is the magic number though- so hopefully once these anims are in they can be fixed/tweaked and the extra variations done.

Hard to counter animate when the root in in the hips of an animal...also when theres not many spine bones it gives the game away too....
Still.....

Elk

Elk Attack from Lachlan Creagh on Vimeo.

An attack for the Elk in the  ECO game....well a first pass-
its hard to make the "jump forward and attack and jump back " look plausible
Probably what needs to happen is a 'charge' running animation and they just run into you....

annyway if you hadn't guesssed I'd been doing a bunch of these animation the last month...
.mostly a bit underwhelming but necessary bits for the game
